so here’s what i would have said, in much less nicer words, since you want to make this public: i know you know that this is absolutely disgusting behavior or you wouldn’t be trying with all your might to cover your ass and the fact that you’re not even attempting to have shame or guilt about it is morally bankrupt. pls get some fucking decency and stop stealing people’s hard work. ‘if i don’t get writers block’ oh sure, it must be so hard for you to scour the internet looking for the next gem to steal!! honestly, if you can’t write for shit, retire the tumblr career and fuck all the way off

Searching through works titled or marked as "collections" of X fandom/pairing on AO3 and reporting re-uploaded, stolen fanfiction and fanart.

Searching titles such as 'looking for fanfiction' and 'help needed' on AO3 and reporting non-fannish uploads that violate the TOS.

Reverse-searching the fanart used on Wattpad book covers to find the origin of stolen fanart and alert the original artists to the misuse.

Leaving comments on works containing the above to explain what the author has done wrong and why its unethical/against the rules.

I can promise you; its worthwhile and cathartic. To date I've helped somewhere in the region of over 200 people get their stolen and misused content removed. I have never had a single creator ungrateful or disinterested in protecting their content.

I have stated on my blog MULTIPLE TIMES that I do not tolerate plagiarism or reposting of my works of ANY KIND. To not only repost my work without permission but to make it seem as if it were your own, as if you yourself wrote and reply to comments as if you yourself wrote this story and had implemented a reference to Aaron Warner yourself. (Which, just FYI, my fic never had an Aaron Warner reference in it to begin with LMFAO)

Please, if you see this post, please go report this “author” on Wattpad and call them out in their comments. I’m not going to stand for my work and other writers’ works getting plagiarized. We all put too much effort into our fics for them to be thrown around other websites and to be discredited.

I've spotted someone wholesale copying the compiled list of Lan Clan rules I put together a few years ago. My list is here:

How do I know it's stolen? It's insanely easy to tell, actually. See, this is in my original a/n on ao3:

Look, there IS no canon categories or canon order. I made them up to organize them. It's absolutely impossible that someone else compiling a list would land on the exact same categories and the exact same order.

Coldxperience's list is plagiarized from my list. Which tbh I wouldn't have even minded all that much except they're claiming its their own work. My list was barely even MY own work, I used other people's translations (and I credited them). So like. Coldxperience didn't credit me, didn't credit the actual translators, and has the gall to apologize that there might be mistakes cause English and Chinese aren't their first languages.

There might be mistakes. On your stolen list. Gee, ya think?

Anyway, this person has been posting other meta they supposedly wrote about character name translations and such. If they stole wholesale from me they certainly stole from others.

I highly recommend yall block them.

in regards to the current wattpad plagiarism situation:

aside from the asks, i haven’t spoken about it myself and i’m going to briefly address it away from everything.

plagiarism is NEVER OKAY. so much hard work goes into what is created on tumblr, and i admire every single one of my fellow writers for the effort they put into their stories. for someone to take advantage of this and us posting for others enjoyment is, frankly, disgusting. to also claim that the writers were ‘asked’ before posting as such a bold faced lie is GROSS.

whilst i’ve only personally been affected by one collection, i am aware there are multiple people on wattpad rn posting the work of other incredible writers on this app and if anyone has any links to them, please do send them my way so i can report.

i have been incredibly busy with, well, being pregnant, so i haven’t had the time to reach out to any of the writers personally affected myself — however if this applies to you please don’t be afraid to reach out to speak. you deserve to know how incredible you are (you also deserve plenty of follows and i’m terrible at following so make sure i follow you back).

i would love to take this time to thank those tirelessly fighting against this whilst i’ve been offline. i appreciate you all so much🤍

So tonight, I was reminded that someone has posted an unauthorized German translation of Be Together on Wattpad, without referencing my original work. It's been reported multiple times, but it's still up over five years later. I looked into it a little bit and it seems like Wattpad won't remove it without a DCMA takedown request, but I don't really fancy giving Wattpad my legal name and address.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Suggestions on how you handled it?? I don't want my fics posted anywhere that I haven't posted them — ffnet and AO3.

um, silly qiestion but is there any other way to reverse search images other than using google lens?

You can use websites like TinEye or DNSChecker, which will scour the internet for any instance of an image being uploaded and provide them in chronological order.

However, with these kinds of websites, please read the usage terms carefully. Some websites that offer services like this are very predatory and will hide in their usage terms that by 'uploading' an image to their site you are granting them permission to use it in varying ways.

Its also not as streamlined or time efficient, but often I've managed to find images by searching relevant key terms of descriptors into Google Images. E.g; "Henry Cavill Pink Fanart."

Bro soooooo. I don’t want to drag down your faith in humanity or anything. Or maybe this is just nothing and I’m going insane. Or maybe they credited you and I didn’t see it. Or maybe you gave them permission and I didn’t see it. But like I was reading a fic for Alicent/rhaenyrha from House of the Dragon and one fic was reading really familiar. I’ve literally been a fan of your work for probably close to a decade or something and I feel like I’ve had your fics memorized at some point in my life. Anyway that when I read the summary of the fic and it sounded like Would it really kill you if we kissed. And the. I read the first 2 chapters and I’m pretty sure it’s your fic just retrofitted for another ship. Except they couldn’t do it right cause you know: it feels plagiarized. Anyway if you already know about this just ignore me. But if you don’t. I fucking hate plagiarism and they need to take the fic down or credit you or something. The Alicent/Rhaenyra fic is “You Know I'm Thinking 'Bout You” by lovely_shadow_minx on ao3
